How do I get an Interpreter/Transliterator
License in Alabama?
Q: What if I am not yet nationally Certified by RID or NAD?
- If you are not yet certified, you
may obtain a PERMIT to interpret for pay in Alabama by submitting
a completed application, documentation of a high school diploma or
GED, current employment as an interpreter, and payment of the
fee.
- If you are not currently employed as
an interpreter, but would like to begin working for pay you may
obtain a nonrenewable provisional (temporary) permit to practice
interpretation or transliteration upon the submission of the
application, documentation of a high school diploma or GED,
payment of the nonrefundable fee, and submission of three letters
of recommendation from licensed interpreters that verify your
skill level.
